How much developer work would be needed to make this happen? Or is this plug and play based on AI?

There is no developer work required. It is completely plug and play.

Is there a brief explanation for how AI learns about the products on our site?

We have an app that can be installed on your store. With this, we can import products, and teach product genius about your catalog. The AI is initially trained on over 3 trillion words – almost all text ever written by humans that is available in public digital form. In addition, via the Shopify data API, we request the store’s product catalog which contains titles, descriptions, features, prices, etc. about the products. The AI’s training which started with a huge corpus of public data is further trained to know about your store’s products, specifically.

How does Product Genius work with Klaviyo?

We have a deep integration with klaviyo that makes it just a few minutes to set up a Klaviyo campaign so that when a shopper receives an email from your klaviyo, and clicks on it, they segway seamlessly to a Product Genius page that makes perfect sense to them and shows them products and content that is specifically relevant to them.

How are you measuring the benefits of Product Genius?

We typically do an a/b test between your existing pages and a Product Genius page. We then look at the comparison in conversion rate during the campaign. We also look at other metrics including time on site, products viewed, add-to-carts, and revenue lift.

What if your store is small with just a few products? Does Product Genius make sense for stores with a limited product offering? For example if we only have 3-4 products with 3-4 variants each?

Yes, Product Genius can be impactful if you get a lot of questions about the product(s), or if there is a diversity of content that shows the use of the product, or if you get a range of different shoppers who might want the product for different reasons, if you have different influencers or ads driving different traffic to the site, or if the products have a range of options, or if the buyer journey tends to take multiple visits to your site.

For example, a company that sells only 6 different pizza ovens got a lot of benefit from Product Genius. These ovens are relatively expensive (a few $1000 dollars). People visited multiple times to consider a purchase. They had questions about multiple options that could be added to an oven, questions about the differences between the ovens, and questions about installation and operation. They also had videos of people in outdoor entertaining areas enjoying serving the pizza to friends, and the videos were situated in different kinds of houses and environments that would seem familiar for different shoppers depending on where they live e.g. a roof patio in Manhattan versus a large house in Florida versus a snowy yard in New England. They also had content explaining why their ovens were the best option on the market. This is an example of a situation where the AI can really optimize how each individual shopper encounters the products and progresses through the buying journey.

My store is not live yet. Can I still try Product Genius AI?

Yes, as long as you have products in your catalog, you can get going in eval mode, and see how Product Genius AI can helpyour store.

How do you treat my store’s data? How do you treat the privacy of product info and client/visitor data?

Your data is safe and is treated in compliance with GDPR, as well as State and Federal regulations across the globe. Product Genius AI does not store any personal data about your shoppers; That data continues to be stores by Shopify. Product Genius AI requests the data for an individual shopper and uses it only at the moment when that shopper is visiting the site, and during that time the data is encrypted within Product Genius at rest and in transit. Can Product Genius distinguish between wholesale and retail customers?

Yes. And it will treat them each appropriately. We have had some requests for a feature where Product Genius would notify the merchant (by email or SMS) when a wholesale customer visits the site. We have that feature on our roadmap.

I am changing the theme and name of my store; will I have to reinstall the AI?

No, this will not require any reinstall or changes to Product Genius.
